Be Gentle week 2

Posted by Miss Ward | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 29-09-2017

This week we have been very busy. We continued reading our Topic Book (Be Gentle). We have talked rules in school and whether Bartholomew followed the rules and how did he make the right choices at the end of the story.  We also did our first shared read, telling the story with Miss Rayner.

In Maths, we looked at positional language. We used vocabulary such as in, out, under and on top. Moving the kitten and our little people into different places.

In Phonics, we have been practising our listening skills, we have listened to different sounds around us and trying to identify them and then make that sound. We went on a listening walk and tried to make some voice sounds. As well as listening to stories with rhyme in.

During choosing time, children have chosen from activities such as mark making, creating cakes in the play dough, making bubbles in puddles and jigsaws.

Next week we will continue with our listening skills and sound identification and learning our rules and routines. In maths, we will be looking at size language and ordering things in size. We will also begin a new book, The Naughty Bus.

BLP Learning Heroes

This week our BLP heroes are Joshua (am), for using resourcefulness in Phonics, and Daisy (pm),  for using reciprocity when playing well with others. We can’t wait to here what exciting things you have been up to with Ollie Owl.  Well done! We are very proud of of you.

At home with you Little Owl you can:

* Compare the size of different objects and encourage them to tell you which is biggest and smallest.

*Talk about some of the changes happening around you. e.g the changes of the colour of leaves.

*Talk about using kind hands and following rules at school, e.g following instructions.

Please make notes or add photos into the children’s home learning book as well as anything to share for weekend news and return to school on Monday.

Important Information

*Please bring in a pair of wellies (labelled with your child’s name), as we try to go out in all weather conditions. These can be left in school.

*Please write names in the labels of your children’s cardigans, jumpers, coats, hats and scarves. Thank you.

*Keep up to date on Twitter at @Owls_ MRPA

*Please keep toys at home, (unless it is for show and tell). We don’t want them to be lost or broken. Thank you.

*A donation of £1 a week towards snack would be greatly appreciated. This can be paid via ParentPay (you should have received your ParentPay log in details this week, if you have not received them please ask at the office).

Have a fantastic weekend.
