The Skeleton Dance

What a great second week in school. We have been very busy with learning, playing and a Parents Evening.

In Literacy and topic we have been continuing with Funnybones and learning a song to perform to the Reception. We practised singing and dancing to The Skeleton Dance. Then on Friday Morning Owls performed to Hedgehogs and Afternoon Owls performed to Rabbits.

In Maths, we practised using language such as more and fewer. We compared groups of bones and sang a song saying which has more and which has fewer.

In Phonics, we have been learning to rhyme. We made silly rhyming names and the children had to guess I was asking for. e.g: Waddie, Laddie…Maddie. We then did this with objects…wen, len, ven…pen.

During choosing time, children have chosen from activities such as I spy, Hospital Role play, reading books and building towns and roads.

Next week we will continue looking at rhyme and rhythm, size language and ordering items by size and starting a topic chosen by children.

The children voted for the book they would most like to focus on from three books. The book with the most votes was Owl Babies. We are looking forward to starting our new book next week.

BLP Learning Heroes

This week our BLP heroes are  Ellis (am) for building his confidence and communicating more, and Caitlin (pm), for her joining in and trying really hard with Phonics. We can’t wait to here what exciting things you have been up to with Ollie Owl.  We have had 10 children complete the Super learning hero challenges. These were Jax (am) and  Caitlin, Daisy, Sam and Layton (pm) Well done! We are very proud of  you.

At home with you Little Owl you can:

*Practise rhyming. See if your owl can guess what you word you want them to say.

*Sing Nursery Rhymes with your child.

*Talk about the size of objects at home.

Please make notes or add photos into the children’s home learning book as well as anything to share for weekend news and return to school on Monday.
