Christmas Prep!

Posted by Miss Ward | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 15-12-2017

This week has been extremely busy! We have been getting into the festive spirit by taking part in our Nativity. Performing to KS1 and parents/guardians in the big hall. Morning Owls were also very lucky to be able to watch KS1’s performance.

We would just like to say how proud we are of all our Owls who performed. They really gave it their all and were very brave to sing and dance in front of all those people.

We also had an extremely busy and exciting Friday. We had Adults come in for our Craft Day. We did lots of things like write letters to Father Christmas, make salt dough decorations, make melted snowman biscuits. It was fantastic to see the adults getting stuck in too. I would like to thank the adults again. It was so lovely to have you all in.

We also had a very special dinner time as we were able to go into the hall for Christmas Dinner. Children practised using knifes and forks and we enjoyed spending time together celebrating Christmas and listening to Christmas songs.

In Maths, we have been looking at 2D shapes and making pictures with them. We have made Christmas Trees, Angels and Snowmen.

In Phonics, we have begun looking at initial sounds in words, focusing on their name. E.G zippy, zappy, Zayn.

During choosing time, children have chosen from activities such as making baubles, making salt dough decorations, feeding Father Christmas mince pies, and exploring our Christmas sensory tray!

Next week Christmas will really begin! We will be enjoying our last few days before the Christmas holidays making cards, writing Christmas lists and having our Christmas Party. There might be a surprise guest too!

BLP Learning Heroes

This week our BLP heroes are Levi (am) for resourcefulness in Phonics, and Maddie (pm),for trying really hard in our performance. We can’t wait to here what exciting things you have been up to with Ollie Owl. Well done! We are very proud of  you. It has been really tricky to complete 3 challenges this week as we have been so busy but we have had 1 child complete our Challenges this week. This was Esme (AM). Good job!

At home with you Little Owl you can:

*get your Owl to draw a picture of what they might put on a Christmas jumper.

*have a sing and a dance to Christmas songs or your Owls favourite song.

*Talk about the shapes seen around you, can your Owl describe them?

Please make notes or add photos into the children’s home learning book as well as anything to share for weekend news and return to school on Monday.

Important Information

*We finish school on Wednesday 20th Decemeber. This will also be the date of our Christmas Party!

*Children can come in their own clothes day on the last day.

Have a lovely weekend! See you on Monday!
